What is Sleeping For Two?
Are you a pregnant woman who has problems falling asleep, staying asleep, waking up too early, or staying awake during day-time?
The University of Calgary's Healthy HEARTS Lab is doing a research study on how effective Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is for pregnant women who have insomnia.
Why? (Our study's purpose)
Sleep disturbances (problems) in pregnancy are common and happen more often as pregnancy progresses. The most effective non-drug treatment for insomnia is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). CBT-I is effective as both a short-term and long-term treatment for insomnia. The CBT-I treatment is given in 6 sessions, as face-to-face or online therapy.
The purpose of our research study is to look at the effectiveness of face-to-face CBT-I and online CBT-I on pregnant women with insomnia, and how the treatment affects clients/participants' sleep quality, how much sleep they get, and their mood.
